Leadership & Staff

Rev. Dr. Douglas J. Foss, Senior Pastor
A graduate of Hesser Business College (ABS), Berkshire Christian College (B.Th.) and Reformed Theological Seminary (M.Div., D.Min.), Doug is presently serving in his twenty-sixth year as the senior Pastor of Hope Church. Before coming to Lenox, he pastored churches in Duck Hill, Mississippi and Whitefield, New Hampshire. In addition to his pastoral duties, Doug serves on the Board of Directors of the Berkshire Institute for Christian Studies (BICS), and is an instructor at the Institute, teaching courses in Evangelism, Counseling and Theology.
In 1995 Doug earned the Doctorate of Ministry degree, in which he developed a Christian education course paralleling the theological differences between Roman Catholicism and the historic Protestant faith. This course is taught frequently at Hope Church to better equip its members to share their faith with a culture steeped in relativism and hedonism.
Doug’s involvement in the Lenox community has included several years as a coach for the Little League and Babe Ruth baseball programs. Doug and his wife, Cindy, have been married 42 years and have three grown children and nine grandchildren. Cindy has served several years as the Administrative Assistant at BICS.
Mr. Wesley Ross, Associate Minister of Worship and Music
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts (M.M.) and the Berkshire Christian College, Wes is presently the Vice President of The Berkshire Institute for Christian Studies (BICS) and Associate Pastor of Worship and Music at Hope Church. He taught at Berkshire Christian College for 18 years and traveled extensively as director of the Berkshire Christian College Corale. Under his leadership, the chorale recorded six albums and toured England in 1980 and again in 1985.
Wes' wife of 48 years, Suzanne, works as a registered nurse, and they have three adult children. At BICS, he teaches a course in the History of Worship and Music in the Church and is Vice President in charge of Academic Affairs. Wes has traveled 13 times to the Middle East (Egypt, Jordan and Israel) as host of the Bible Lands Seminar, and 10 times to the United Kingdom, including a hymnology tour he led in 2005 and 2011.
He released a recording of original compositions available on compact disk and cassette entitled Keeper of My Days that can be enjoyed on the Hope Church website in the music ministry section.
Well-known in Advent Christian circles for his leadership in camps, church music seminars, General Conference sessions and performance, Wes also chaired the committee which produced the popular new hymnal Hymns of Heritage and Hope, already in its second printing.
Wes' responsibilities at Hope Church include directing the Hope Sanctuary Choir, leading the worship team and coordinating the congregational music, special music, accompanists and sound technicians for all Hope worship services.
